@ai6yr Looking good in the photo. My understanding is that with crossflow tests, after the full 15 minutes, ANY visible T-line, no matter how faint, is positive. But nothing also means nothing.
Back in February, when I had it full blast, the T-line would appear the instant the liquid reached it. Haha. No need to wait 15 minutes. That's, uh, positive. Lol.
@fringequest Kids say the darndest things.
Good morning! A post just rolled across my fedi-timeline saying not to post about politics on Mastodon, so I'm here to remind you that:
1 "politics" refers to decision-making about how to live together in groups
2 choosing to not participate in political discussion is saying you support the status quo, and is a political stance
3 abstaining from politics because you feel safe from its impacts is a privilege and a choice to abandon your more vulnerable neighbours
Tips for Americans on saving money on COVID protection:
-Masks such as N95s are FSA/HSA reimbursable.
-Your health insurer (private or public) is still required to offer you 8 free home COVID tests every 30 days.
-Some states are continuing to mail free home COVID tests on request. For example, WA, MN, and WI residents can order them through https://sayyescovidhometest.org/
@georgepenney I highly recommend a TWSBI Eco. Big ink tank means less frequent refills. And refilling is quick.
Prediction: All the cool new tools for journalists and broadcasting will be developed here first. People going to closed sites like Post .news will just have to venture outside their walled gardens to use them. They will quickly tire of that step, then realize they're completely reliant on a single conduit for their brand again. Same mistake they made on Twitter.
@truthsandwich Agreed. I'm training myself to use the tags politics, usa, and uspol. I don't put content warnings on purely political stuff.
I did put one CW today on something I found offensive but it was not so much political as disgusting behavior by that "pastor" who thinks the gay bar killings are great.
@vk2gpu Yes, very unsatisfying. And because of the long path and hot ionosphere it's warm when it gets there. Lol.
I've seen your invitations before and always say "Drat! That would be fun."
Since Mastodon saw its initial popularity circa 2017, I've noticed that most users and those reporting on it either don't think about the Fediverse as anything more than Mastodon, or treat its history as beginning with Eugen Rochko and the beginning of Mastodon. In fact, Mastodon is the latest in a long line of federated social networks, going at least back to Identi.ca, and though I wasn't around for all of it,I find this history pretty interesting. (Thread; boosts welcome!)
@f00fc7c8 Thanks for writing this. My first awareness of any kind of federated network was when the Diaspora project began. I donated money because I thought it was a great idea. It's good to learn the history before 2010.
I became active on Diaspora and Mastodon four years ago. I notice that you speak of Diaspora in past tense. Diaspora is going strong with a couple million users, many of them refugees from Google-Plus. I'm on it every day.

@vk2gpu I'd love to join you but I'm 8,000 miles away.

@cra1g But, but, it's been there for 35 years! I might have bad luck if I remove it.
@olavf Hello. I took a look at your profile. I see the captions "I make art" and "I make food". Just for fun, I would change one of those to "Website" and see if your server hooks it up then.
The fact that we all came to #mastadon looking for an app just lke Twitter and 2 days later we are all happy that Mastodon is in fact NOT like Twitter, says a lot about that little birdie.
This is like the good old days on that other place. #caturday is trending at 20 times the rate of what's in second place.
