@amerika @sj_zero The Masto software is open source. Nobody owns it.

As far as what the person asking means, they are asking a meaningless question. They likely come from the mindset that everything is owned by somebody.

There is no "smaller company" that could sell "the platform" to a larger company. The platform lives on thousands of machines all owned by different people all over the world.

The person asking the question is lost in their own idea of what Mastodon is.

Seeing people say "maybe mastodon can sell the platform to a bigger company" to me shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what exists here. It's like saying "maybe email can sell the platform to a bigger company"

It's like... You can't sell email as a platform, it doesn't belong to anyone to sell. Same with the fediverse.

GOP House now busily passing fantasy legislation that has *literally* zero chance of ever becoming law. Primary school children could do better.

@lauren And wasting time and our money. We pay their salaries to do this???

Now that the dust is settling, here's an #introduction. I'm a filmmaker, actor, and staunch New-Twitter rejecter.

I love the gentler, non-algorithmic nature of this community, and in keeping with that, I don't plan to use this account for self-promo. You can find my projects on other platforms (which I seldom use) or my own site: linktr.ee/alxwinter.

The #fediverse is an opportunity to build a community as robust as Twitter without the histrionics and clickbait toxicity. Let's do that!

@lauren @TruthSandwich@toad.social It was also a great opportunity for Bill to show off his remarkable talent for titillating costume design. All male eyes riveted to the screen because you just KNOW her clothes are going to fall off. Hahaha. Brilliant, actually.

@lauren @TruthSandwich@toad.social Indeed. Even my 12 year-old self thought it was silly. At the time I figured it was intended to titillate the male audience, at which it was successful. But the premise made no sense to me even then.

@lauren @TruthSandwich@toad.social Yes, academic. Just think of me as one of the Gamesters of Triskelion.

@lauren @TruthSandwich@toad.social Hahaha. Perhaps. But I'll go for that over no experience at all.

@breakfastmtn Dangerous game. That's a setting where kitty might accidentally forget about claw control. Yeeow!

@TruthSandwich@toad.social @lauren Lol. The brain is the only organ I care about.

@lauren 10,000 year-old prune is fine with me as long as my brain is still working okay.

@dangoodin Not to be a wiseacre, but uh, don't use Windows?

Long ago Microsoft added tons of cool features to make things more convenient and automatic for users without considering the consequences for security.

@rigeldyesshall Yes, Porter is one of the few in Congress with exceptionally high intelligence. She's a dangerous opponent in a debate.

@w7voa Well, there is one small difference here, Mr. Scalise. Biden's loyalty to the United States is unquestioned and impeccable. The other guy is a known traitor and planner of a coup attempt to overthrow the U.S. government.

The House just passed Republicans' bill to add $114 billion to the deficit while making Americans' tax agency less responsive to them, just to put more money in the pockets of the very rich.

I voted NO; this was the final vote count.
