Via #Biden-Harris HQ account (one of my faves):

Here is just some of what #Trump is saying he plans to do if reelected

Another Twitter/X suspension:

@Flipboard
“We have decided to suspend our activity on Twitter/X… we believe it’s vital to align our social presence with platforms that share our values for advancing trusted journalism, expert voices and quality information. This is one of the reasons we’re moving away from Twitter/X and investing our energy in #Mastodon and other open social platforms.”

Top Aid to Trump's Cheif of Staff, Hutchinson told Jake Tapper that she believes Trump “is the most grave threat we will face to our democracy in our lifetime, and potentially in American history.”

Not just the largrst threat now, the Republican says, but the biggest threat that the U.S. WILL FACE.

She urges all Americans to vote for Biden, "if they want our democracy to survive.”

I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.

She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 13 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle so hard to comprehend large numbers.

Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.

@TruthSandwich@toad.social Exactly.

"Our AI system made the decision."
"Oh, okay."

(Actually, our AI system is just a set of rules in a decision tree, but we call it AI. Who's to say it's not AI?)

@TruthSandwich@toad.social Exactly. It's the old bug versus feature thing. Also, because of the excitement surrounding so-called AI, calling something AI is an automatic plus that gets automatic buy-in and a free pass on performance. "Ooo wow, it's AI".

@randahl Austin is two months younger than me. Lol. Pretty funny photo. He does have a commanding presence.

Russian #state #propaganda spells out their plan to distract from Ukraine by promoting Hamas. This article argues that they had to do this to appease Iran, whose weapons they need to fight Ukraine

I've suspected this from the start, but didn't expect a Russian defense policy advisor to say it out loud.

Hamas is Putin's latest op. He's out to fuck Israel and Jewish people everywhere.

Putin should be aware that this is also a wedge issue in Russia. Does he really want to promote Chechen Islamists right now, while the vultures are circling?

I won't link to a Russian propaganda site, only because it's a learned skill to read through the BS. But this article was revealing. Putin is either working with Hamas or wants us to think so.

In my mind, this shows his weakness more than anything. He's dependent on IRAN?

@markwyner Yes, this puzzle is beyond most 3 and 4 year-old humans.

I'm old. "Birdbrain" used to be a common insult. Not anymore.

The problem, as usual, is ignorance. We used to measure relative intelligence in terms of brain mass. More brain mass == smarter. But it turns out that brain mass is a poor metric.

There's more than one way to design a brain. In large animals like humans, the design rules are more relaxed. In birds that fly, it's obviously important to keep brain size and mass to a minimum, so the design rules are different. And yes, you can build a brain that's much lighter and more compact than a mammalian brain if that's what's required.

Brain mass alone doesn't mean shit if the starting design constraints are different. So yeah, corvids are smart. Way smarter than their size implies.

Project 2025 isn't a joke. the fascists have a full fucking plan on how they are going to seize power and never let go of it forever, and purge the country of leftists. they are nazis, fascists, evil vile authoritarians, far right extremists. they have published their manifestos and strategies, they are comfortable in making their names and policies known without innuendo. they want to ethnically and politically purge the country, it's in their platform.

"No Labels" scammers:

No Labels is flush with cash -raised $21.2M in 2022. With that haul, it could aim to make noise in the 2024 race, as the group insists it will. Their top six officials pulled in $1.5M in salary—Even though it is acting increasingly like a political party—fielding a candidate & attempting to qualify for the ballot in states for 2024—No Labels’ nonprofit status means it doesn’t have to disclose its donors or share detailed-.

@rombat @ASleepyWanderer Yes. I'm a birdwatcher here in the U.S. and Central America. American Robins are fairly common here in West Virginia, and now I know why they're called American Robins. 😂

@randahl Took them long enough. Then again, they have a bit of a "history".

@rombat @ASleepyWanderer Saved me from saying the same thing. The bird in the photo looks like a completely different family. I wonder what it is.
