They need to get it right and sure if product leaks the cardboard ends up weak which is not good.

@ravi@floss.social

Great thanks for this, I can use at the Upcoming STEM group at the library to hopefully spark some debate /. discussion on this.

In the meantime I will also share on

discourse.qoto.org

I can't seem to find this on the defective by design website

@LearnTribe@mastodon.social

Maybe we should co-ordinate some efforts and target very specific issues one by one.

For example Lidl sell cans of cola in packs of 6, held together with plastic.

Why can't they use card board, which is recyclable

This is doable,

Ok it may be chaper to use plastic, but i am sure the extra pennies needed to use cardboard is worth it, compared with the price the environment pays for more plastic.

@LearnTribe@mastodon.social Lets just hope this crop of political elites actually agree and importantly do something.

We need ideas to move forward, perhaps the fediverse can be a place to discuss that.

@yogthos@mastodon.social @velartrill
I think people and companies using those platforms will do the same, especially when customers start to take notice.

This is kinda where fedi needs to be ready to move in, not with the intention of killing them off (we can't do that) but we can provide a viable alternative.

@velartrill @yogthos@mastodon.social

Tech in general is at the mercy of the power grid.

@yogthos@mastodon.social @velartrill

I think the issue from this is that it could really fracture these huge corporations

With fedi person x is running an instance and person y is a user, if person x changes a policy person y can just lave and set up their own or join another.

If people working for big tech companies decide to leave due to the side / stance the leadership take it could cause them problems, as even recruitment becomes difficult.

@yogthos@mastodon.social @velartrill

I would guess US based centralised services could go down too

@yogthos@mastodon.social @velartrill

will also be interesting to see the side big tech takes.

Be Ready Devon

readydevon.org.uk/

"Thousands of people across Devon are overlooked for jobs because of pre-conceived myths and ideas about disability and long-term health conditions."

I will try and invite them to join the Fediverse, so they can reach out to different groups of people.

@aral Cool thanks.

We are looking for speakers at Libre Planet if you're interested in doing a talk It is virtual this year as with last year.

@aral I am at a Libreplanet planning meeting, what was the transcription software you were using for small-tech ? Is that free software. ?

@coyote @neko @DickForgetsHeRunsServices @p @mrsaturday @grumbulon @Noided @ruina

I know but the comments about kids being a certain way reminded me of the manifesto document,.

@Fenix Over here in the UK a food outlet would be in BIG trouble if this sort of thing happened.

There are very strong safety standards, proper training and expectations along with a legal duty on safety etc.

Fail and the law comes down on you.

Lessons need to be learned quickly and new procedures put in place.

@ravi@floss.social @praveen @info_activism@mastodon.cc

Sounds like a plan, I am not good at graphic design, all I would ask is you consider printing.

@Info_Activism@twitter.activitypub.actor sent me some color flyers,

If we produce materials maybe make some colour and others simpler and mono so they can be printed quickly and cheaply but still have the same effect.
