However adults are getting scammed / abused on facebook and related platforms too.

Don't forget the WhatsAPp group with the POLICE officers in found after the Sarah Everard case, The POLICE also shared images of the two girls murdered as if it was some sort of joke.

I would rather safety was something that concerns ALL users not just a small group, Children on facebook, other social anyone under age should not be on there.

But reality checks say they are so lets make sure they are safe from exploitation, including from the actual platform itself.

@info_activism I like the bit that says 'no one is safe from Russian pirates' given the fact some people are apparently sill using 123456 as their password are people safe from their own STUPIDITY

Using 123456 is still quite common by all accounts.

How much of a threat is Russia / China ? How much of this is more to do with our MSM just trying to create headlines.

"A large-scale malware campaign on Huawei's AppGallery has led to approximately 9,300,000 installs of trojans masquerading as over 190 different apps"

There is no profit in using last years clothing, they need the new fashions and influencers to promote new lines.

They need to make people feel that item is so last year so they spend money to buy this years item.

That being said, there are people around the world with NOTHING who could really benefit from these items being redistributed.

@stux I quite like the feature that was on Friendica where you can have what is essentially a guardian account, this person would be a Trusted person who can access your account etc if need be.

Would be good for those under 18 to be able to say nominate a parent or other trusted adult who can help oversee the account and step in should something of concern happen.

However there are other uses here, a group of people could nominate one person to be able to take over should they have problems or if they are away and they are messaged the person overseeing the group could still step in and reply for example.

@stux Indeed, people are starting to realise that, only Zuckerberg et al are too thick to see we can see through their crap.

I have made a blog post with a link to the Forbes article and suggested this on my post

"If you use Facebook, please STOP also saying you are committed to safeguarding. "

@stux Child safety,!!! what about all the adults being scammed on these platforms.

Given this cesspit of a platform sees children as untapped wealth their Idea of child safety is highly questionable.

I under stand that point, I guess it is just difficult to balance/

I guess i I am used to communities where race / ethnic group etc is less important because we are helping each other.

Time zones are important for arranging meetings to try and include people at a reasonable time for everyone

I agree. I was also thinking when reading articles about say a black chemist, why do we put colour first.

Surely that person is a Chemist first then black, i was kinda think i n if we change the order of the words then people see a person in the context of their career / profession.

Or may be we should just say our profession and leave our skin colour out of it, as to me it is not relevant, you should be judged on your research / writing.

If that makes sense.

@Greenpeace@newsbots.eu I wrote to Lidl UK a while back, to ask if they could replace their plastic wrapping for cola cans with cardboard,

I have not as yet had a reply several weeks later.

@freemo @stux Sometimes I feel that would be quicker with my printer.

@icedquinn I have just shared this on my blog so it should federate here too.
