More drones coming, Ukraine tells Russia after skyscraper hit

bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-6636

I am still not convinced this is a good idea, any drones supplied by NATO will be for defensive purposes or offensive purposes within Ukraine. By attacking Moscow directly isn't there a danger of escalation?

Surely that hypothesis needs to be tested in a scientific way, so which billionire(s) do we test this out on?

I know the Royal marines can learn to cope in all different conditions, but this is more of a state of mind, it takes a lot of training and not everyone can make it through the initial course for the marines.

Just spotted this while scanning through headlines on the Dailymail website

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Joe Biden's political activist sister Valerie has endorsed Meghan Markle for the White House

So according to this article the Democrat candiates are also Kamala Harris (VP) and Hilary Clinton, while the Front runner for the Repblicans are Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

Not much of a choice, when you consider that Russia, China are flexing their muscles, N Korea seems very keen to Nuke the US at any opportunity, the situation in the middle east seems to be getting more and more chaotic, with the government of isreal becoming more hardlined and removing powers from their supreme court.

We NEED a strong, rational, intelligent, compassionate leader in the US whitehouse, someone who can make decisions, stand up to dictators and keep the world safe. The job isn't some game where if you fail you just restart, if something happens it is GAME OVER, if we fail on the climate it is GAME OVER.

So an example could be

Hypothesis:

Magnesium is a group 2 element that is reactive and will react with weak acids. It has a grey / shiny apperance.

Experiment :

Take a flask with Vinegar, drop a strip of clean shiny Magnesium about 1" in length in to the acid and observe results over time

Result : Should see a reaction with the acid with bubbles of hydrogen given off, The latter would be a Hypthesis based on the Equation, so

Experiment 2: Put a lighted splint in to the flask and listen for a pop which would indicate the presense of Hydrogen gas.

Theory, Magnesium metal, will react with weak acids, to produce Hydrogen gas as a by product.

Extension

Repeat the experiment with tarnished Magnesium and conclude if the reaction is quicker or slower due to the presense of oxide on the surface of the Magnesium metal.

@zleap In context, this is better in practice... set up an "experiment" where students go through the process of establishing a hypothesis, coming up with meaningful tests of the hypothesis, then using those tests to advance the hypothesis to becoming a theory.

@Liggs17

Has some info on this

oilfieldteam.com/en/a/learning

I will try and do some more digging and share.

If we are going to stop drilling for oil we need to either stop using or replace many of the products we get from oil surely.

Consuming less is surely also the better option.

@dsfgs @jeffcliff @SarahMackAttack

I think we need to help people find alternative solutions, not everyone has the technical skirls, perhaps time to run their own instances of anything, or perhaps the finance, or finance to pay someone.

The solutions are out there, we just need to be open, patient and try and help people. Hence I was asking generally what solutions were out there, but I understand this situation that they can't afford to look at this right now.

I am expecting a large amount of money to enter the #fediverse probably starting next year. Driven by startups with #venturecapital.

Why? Because the investment opportunity of an open social network is simply too juicy to ignore. Most potential fediverse entrepreneurs may not know yet, but once #threads actually does #activitypub, it will become clear very quickly.

Love it or hate it, how are we going to prepare? Something I want to discuss at #fediforum. FediForum.org

@zleap @jeffcliff We are extremely strapped for funding and don't have the staff to re-invent how our data comes in, so for now it's going to be google forms.

Good point, seems common for coins or similar to be thrown at soccer players here too.
