Biden is fucking up. The United States should absolutely not "have the back" of any group that shells hospitals and schools.

The only backs we ought to have are the civilians (on both sides) who desperately need aid right now.

Steve Herman
"The United States has Israel's back," says President Biden. "Make no mistake."

@kevkev One hack I've done in the past is:
Add two keyframes near the end, one right after the other (as in, a single frame apart). The second should be 180 from the first. Disable tweening between the nodes.

Usually, this causes the rotate-back portion of the animation to be so fast as to be imperceptible to the eye in action... but it would require the art on the board to be reversable, or that might be noticeable.

@Deembe @MarkBrigham @ct_bergstrom Would you prefer the government decide what is and is not misinformation on private platforms?

Before you answer, consider that the very same government could conceivably be run by a Trump presidency in a couple years. Do you want that administration to have the power to define and remove "misinformation" online?

I'll take the free market over that dystopia any day.

Agreed. All you should need to make a great website is a simple IDE and an image editor.

“Adactio: Journal—Making the Patterns Day website” "I didn’t use any build tools. There was no pipeline. There is no node_modules folder filling up...

@adamrice @ct_bergstrom This is true, but I think the concern is that LLM output is causing a feedback loop that speeds up this process to a rate that can't be manually corrected by humans.

@Deembe @MarkBrigham @ct_bergstrom The free market does. When their services start sucking, we start unsubscribing.

@tzimmer_history It could have been a good thing... abandon the privately-owned public square and find newer, freer avenues for communication.

But, unfortunately, journalists, after writing about addicts for decades, just couldn't break their own addiction.

Republicans calling a special legislative session to prevent *private businesses* from implementing Covid restrictions tells us an awful lot about where the party is right now.

Apparently government is supposed to be so big and intrusive that it can force a deadly, anti-freedom, anti-scientific ideology on everyone.

@briankrebs I thought that DDOS protection shuts down or rate-limits connection attempts after detecting a high volume, right? Does that detection just not work if they requestor also sends cancellation messages?

In other words, after the first 10 or 100 are sent and cancelled, why would the server not just reject any connection attempt from that host?

@chrishudsonjr We can actually pick and choose which state actions we like instead of reflexively opposing all of them 😛

@w7voa "defend itself against terror" is an interesting way to word that...

@mentallyalex The last time I did that, I was surprised by how Germanic I looked. Did your face surprise you too?

I check my Twitter/X/whateveritscalled account from time to time. My mentions and timeline there now consist almost entirely of just bot-generated crap. Zero value, except as a reminder of what was lost.

It's like the Chernobyl exclusion zone, slowly being reclaimed by nature, except that here, "nature" means the Internet's bottom-feeding scammers.

Wow, John Riccitiello is OUT at Unity. Retiring as CEO, President, and member of the board effective immediately.
