@interfluidity I'm not too proud to admit that I had to google it to participate in this conversation.

@interfluidity @karchie Notable works that are bad novels were the bane of my existence as a schoolkid. Doesn't surprise me that they don't want to read it, lol.

@interfluidity If your premise is accurate, then yes. The government should not be making content-based restrictions.

But, as I mentioned in a different post, I don't entirely buy that the Turner Diaries are "suppressed", not until I see evidence that it was removed for ideological reasons.

@interfluidity @karchie Eh, not every library can carry every book. If they did, they'd take up multiple square miles.

A book being pulled for its content offending politicians is different than a book being pulled because it's old and hasn't been checked out in a decade.

@interfluidity The difference is that it's government entities banning these books from government-run schools and libraries.
Amazon is a private company, with every right to choose what it sells.

I'd argue that both books should be allowed in (appropriately aged) school libraries, and both books should be in special sections that add context so kids don't take them out without having some kind of idea of what they're getting themselves into. That would be good education.

@kevkev Just played around with it myself. Set the second keyframe's left tangent to "Constant".

FYI, if you ever crave a pressed sandwich and you don't have a sandwich press, just microwave the sandwich and press it between two plates. It's definitely not as good, but it's usually good enough.

@realcaseyrollins @freemo As I understand it, you could switch "Israel" and "Hamas" and your post would still be 100% true... 🤷‍♂️

@realcaseyrollins @freemo I mean, according to The Guardian, Israel is currently shelling schools and hospitals and civilian border crossings. Reckoning for wrongs would be one thing if those wrongs weren't still being actively committed.

@wndlb @skinnylatte Right, good point; that's like half the premise of the Kitchen Nightmares series.

@freemo @realcaseyrollins Agreed. It's not about shifting blame from one side to the other, but about understanding that both sides are doing truly terrible things that perpetuate the endless cycle of violence between them. Anyone condemning one side and standing with the other is, therefore, inherently hypocritical.

@villetakanen @SteveCooke Yeah, but they can't take over the assets of a company when those assets aren't in their jurisdiction...

@skinnylatte Okay, I get your point, but also "Occidental Restaurant" sounds delicious and I would absolutely eat there.

@design_law Can't believe nobody has suggested it, but there's the "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and World's End.

@Chancerubbage @SteveCooke @deannapizzuti True, but regulators are slow to count, so if it's 6% of *last year's* income, then that'll probably be enough to bankrupt them, lol

@SteveCooke (A) I'll believe that when they're actually levied, not when I see a screenshot of somebody threatening to do so.
(B) What's the punishment for him just flat-out refusing to pay the fines they levy against him?

I really like the editor, but its shader system is baffling and poorly documented. After three days of frustration just trying to get some UVs to offset, I'm out. I've been writing shaders for 15 years, and I can't even figure out basic shit here.

I'm bailing back to .

@cek To the best of my knowledge, everything you just said applies to traditional DDOS attacks too. You can't tell if they're malicious either, but once they go over the limit, you cut them off anyway to play defense. Why does that not apply here?
