A lot of guys suddenly pretending to care about "academic plagiarism" like they cared about "ethics in gaming journalism."

I could absolutely get behind this.

DJ Sundog - from the toot-lab
new rule: if your company puts a LLM bot on the front lines of your customer support effort, your company should be legally bound to adhere to what...

@ZachWeinersmith I suppose that depends on whether you consider "has visually appealing genes" to be a talent. Seems a lot of celebrities that get by on just being beautiful could qualify.

@neuralgraffiti It's even more fun (although also more terrifying) when you're not a lawyer and can be thoroughly unprofessional.

@Av8rdan I remember hearing about what to do in the event of a water landing (on many flights that never went over water), yet I can't remember ever having been through a safety lesson that covered what to do if your plane burst into flames upon landing.

@Darryl We don't like the term "libertarian socialist" down here because it sounds too contradictory. "Left-libertarian" was common for a while, but really, the form of libertarianism that advocates freedom *for all*, not just for the privileged, used to just be called "libertarianism" in America. Only recently have the far-right an-caps taken that label (and the party) away from us.

@Darryl The "libertarian" label has been fully co-opted and ruined by an-caps.

@NPR "Pressure mounts" from whom? Sounds like bullshit passive voice.

Many of us want him to help the migrants, not "stem their flow".

@Daojoan @gruber If you can't find what you're looking for and you want to invest in creating something bespoke, reach out. I can help with that.

@georgetakei That would be nice if she didn't probably make 10x that much on the MAGA GoFundMe circuit.

Important went into effect January 1 in :
"2806.5. (a) A peace officer making a traffic or pedestrian stop, before engaging in questioning related to a criminal investigation or traffic violation, shall state the reason for the stop. The officer shall document the reason for the stop on any citation or police report resulting from the stop."

No more "Do you know why I pulled you over?" from in California.

@carnage4life Brand loyalty is a helluva drug... even, curiously, among anti-corporate types.

@appagalcrochet Twitter was never "of the people, by the people and for the people". It was a private for-profit corporation, and it never even had that great of a market share.

This is all Musk's ego.

@Magooish @chartier @OddDev If they wanted to maintain power and control, they wouldn't have destroyed the platform. They'd have tried to expand it so their subversive methods had more reach.

I just want to remind everyone that, sometimes, if you ignore problems long enough, they actually do go away!

@Magooish @chartier @OddDev I feel like, were that true, they could find easier ways to do it than lighting a mountain of cash on fire.

@chartier @OddDev He wanted to destroy what he perceived it to be (a public square controlled by liberals), but no, lighting $30B on fire is just pure incompetence, and your attempt to cast it as malice gives Musk way too much credit. He's not smart enough. He genuinely thought he, with no experience or research, could do better than a team of hundreds who have lived it for years.

New from 404 Media: a 13 year old has become the first person in the world to beat the NES version of Tetris. They reached Tetris’ Kill Screen; previously only an AI had achieved this.

“I can’t feel my hands,” he said at one point.
