On the very few occasions that I voted when I was in my 20s, I voted tory (to my shame). Why? Because it was the era of Harold Wislon, Grocer (paedo) Heath and that fucking rabble. The era when branch meetings of the Labour party (then overwhelmingly dominated by the Militant Tendency) would often finish a branch meeting by passing a resolution to "invite the glorious Red Army to invade Britain and free the workers from the shackles of the capitalist pigs and their running dogs". I know that, as I used to be regularly invited to Labour Party meetings as I worked in the building that actually housed the local Labour party HQ. This was back in the days of Red Robbo and all the other shop stewards who would willingly wreck the economy and cause major industries to go bust to make a political point.
If I had a vote today, which I don't because the Labour party attempted to 'gerrymander' an election by denying the vote to those who had lived outside the UK for more than 15 years (just about the only country in the world so to do), it would go to the party most likely to unseat the tories who have morphed into a full-on replica of the fucking Nazi party! Lineker is absolutely right!
This is probably down to the American obsession with screwing the last possible ounce of flesh out of every worker. Recently, people maintaining Boeing aircraft reported finding tools and swarf left in voids where such things absolutely shouldn't be!
I'm sure the same applies to Tesla. The pressure assembly workers are placed under in all sorts of US industries is nothing short of criminal; not to mention downright dangerous!
Ahhhhh 'C', the first language I learned and still my favourite even though I have learnt quite a number since then. I also had a love affair with 8086 and 68000 assembler but sadly under windows, that is not a usable language these days.
One of these days I have promised myself that I will dive into ARM Risc assembler for the Raspberry Pi as I'm retired I do have the time! I love working that close to the CPU & registers.
The stuff one could do even with a relatively slow 8086 architecture CPU if one was prepared to do it the hard way with assembler, was astonishing!
Did you know that of all elected officials in America—97% of GOP are white (76% male) and 79% of Dems are white (65% male)?
Women and Black, Indigenous, & POC are more than 70% of American society—but represent less than 25% of those in public office.
Let’s change that, because representation matters.
When I was writing computer code for a living, I used to liken it to playing chess all day every day.

No, it certainly isn't! The racism against black Africans in India, for example, is absolutely appalling!

#OtD 9 Mar 1914, women battled police in Glasgow during Emmeline Pankhurst's speaking tour of Scotland. They used jiu-jitsu and barbed wire concealed in flower bouquets, and one woman fired blanks from a revolver https://libcom.org/history/violence-suffragette-movement

You can't claim asylum legally as we've made that impossible!
It must be hilarious for the #RestOfTheWorld to watch a pompous, arrogant, big-headed, yester-year country like the
"U"K🇬🇧 make fart noises as it deflates like a balloon with a puncture.
IMO it has to deflate entirely before the holes can be patched and sensible, independent things can begin to grow in its place.
They have had the same rule at almost every company I have worked for "Thou shalt not tell thy coworkers thy salary!"
Bollocks to them I always have, and on at least one occasion it has resulted in a coworker nearly doubling his salary!
Management are fuckin arseholes! They're to maximize profits and stamp on the workers faces - never believe a fuckin word they say! They're filth, scum!!!

Atheist; loathe almost all religions and pity the people deluded enough to follow them. I make exceptions for Buddhism as it isn't really a religion in the strictest sense of the word as it doesn't postulate the existence of any god, and Jainism which is the epitome of peace.
For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.
