F/OSS project timelines:
- Writing the code: ~3h of focus
- Getting 3h of focus: ~1mo

Today marks the end of an era for me. I said goodbye to my beloved lilo (which never, ever gave me the slightest problem in almost 25 years of use) and installed GRUB, which doesn't feel as comfy, to be honest.

“Death Blowing Bubbles,” one of several depictions of death created by Johann Georg Leinberger between 1729-1731 CE, for ceiling of Holy Grave Chapel in Michaelsberg Abbey in Bamberg, Germany.

(Bubbles are symbols of fragility of life)

@realcaseyrollins
this values "the international order" higher than the people who are dead and who cannot be made un-dead.

those non-christmas-presents did work when? the communists worked around them, russia works around them, iran works around them. the only ones suffering are common people. nobody at the top is suffering from sanctions etc.

the psychopaths will live while civilians are dead. bibi will never face any consequences. he has the right friends, the international law will be on his side.

@realcaseyrollins
> Holding nations accountable for their crimes will be much more feasible once peace has been established.

that's irrelevant because the people are already dead then.

additionally, nations can't be held accountable. nations have no rights and duties. it's a wholly absurd concept. even if they could, you would punish the common people.

civilians all over the world are maimed and dead because these sad excuses for human beings called leaders get a hard-on from it, no matter the side.

the people at the top very seldom have to fear any consequence for being directly responsible for the killing thousands. they just have to belong to the bigger clique of warmongers. if anything, the pure chance they could be on the losing side and face the consequences is a great inspiration for even more atrocities.

@mangeurdenuage would love gnunet getting more popular! i wonder if i2p has the same problems as tor, but both gnunet and i2p aren't providing "exit" nodes anyway.

@bonifartius This dude has the same phenotype as the fella that played the protagonist of A Clockwork Orange. Not an insult, it’s just a very, very intense look that fits this sort of rant.

@iron_bug FSFE is half heartedly doing work nobody is interested in while raking in governmental and EU money. they effectively are one of those "NGOs" which are doing the governments dirty work. controlled opposition. i'll never forgive them for trying to cancel RMS and the FSF board.

@Elf indeed! i also like his hairdo and sideburns he occasionally has. it's all a little bit over the top, which makes for a certain "LET'S FUCKING GOOOO" feeling :shuffleparrot:

> Either way, do not believe what SFC and FSFE say. They're mostly opportunistic parasites, but they try to get people's attention based on ignorance of their past and a bunch of nice-sounding "virtue-signalling" like "DEI", leveraging a so-called 'CoC' against anyone who is passionate about Software Freedom rather than raising money from enemies of Software Freedom (both SFC and FSFE raised money from Microsoft in the past).

that's why i'm member of the true FSF even if i can't use that membership to reduce my taxes here in germany. FSFE is an usurper.

Oh hey, you can embed arbitrary data in a PNG.

You can have a game with a Saints Row style character customizer, have that game take a photo of your character that it gives you as a PNG with all the numbers for the wrinkly-eyes sliders etc stored as metadata chunks, you can email that PNG to a mate and they can slot that PICTURE OF YOUR CHARACTER back into their copy of the game and they'll be able to play as your character.

What a wacky and cool idea!

(edit: I am informed via a private toot that I cannot boost that this is how PICO-8 software is distributed; the picture of the game IS the game! Wild!)
