@kkarhan @ajroach42 it's slightly easier nowadays https://antennapod.org
@NewAmauta Hello, this is very interesting.
Sorry for coming up with this so completely different question: Could you maybe help me trace down some early collections/translations of Native American (I put it so broadly because I'm completely ignorant as to where to start) folk tales to English? Thanks!
Indigenous philosophy is so enriching!
Studying my own Quechua and Aymara philosophies along with Mexica-Aztec, Lakotah, Haudenosaunee, Mapuche, Mayan, Anishinaabe, Kolla, reindigenized Mestizo, Misak, Taíno philosophies makes me realize we had a cornecopia of cultural richness and intelligence.
But, all of them have 2 things in common, a care for the land and struggle for liberation. Only the terminology and ceremonies are different! 🌎
Incan-Andean and Aztec philosophers alike believe in balance between extremes. In Quechua it is called yanantin. In Nahuatl, it's ometecuhtli-omecihuatl. And, both teach that ethics creates philosophy, not the reverse. Andean philosopher Hugo Chacón writes
“Being is explained as associative renewal, one works their individuality and independence from the profundity of human associations… Andean being is unintelligible without gatherings”.

@DoesntExist @jvagle @fraying many years ago, I convinced myself that for a company to be financially sustainable and survive crises, it's CEO needs to be a stingy scrooge. But I've always seen this as a pure money matter, not a definition for misanthrope. Hopefully the latter comes with the appetite for growth. Because our society needs some form of corporate business. I just don't see it really needing ever-expanding multinationals
@megatronicthronbanks @dangillmor not before the elections. I'd argue that it's unwise to jail someone who has the possibility of the country standing behind him in fair elections. If society supports fraud and authoritarism, law enforcement is weakened
@UweHalfHand @dangillmor isn't big part of the problem that they are supported by people that feel detachment in our society? Isn't part of the solution trying to reach out to them, regardless of politics. Voting is the short term solution. Reaching out is the long term one
@triptych I think coops will never "run the show" because unlike companies, they do not have it as a goal. But that's fine. Let Apple, MS, Google run the show of those who need a brand to follow. The rest of us should be able to also live as we see fit. And many of us do. We just need to make this way of living more accessible to new entries. And the Fediverse, FOSS, etc are important steps in this direction. Local coops are there in many parts of the world. My experience is that currently one needs to pass through a company to be able to value the difference.
My latest just out today in @sciencemagazine: "The costs of “costless” climate mitigation," joint with Matt Kotchen & James Rising.
IPCC, McKinsey, energy-systems models & climate-economic ones have quite a bit of disagreement around what it costs to cut emissions.
The biggest disagreement: how much of it is free, and what does "free" mean.
Or more to the point, what does it take to get the free stuff actually done. (Hint: It takes policy.)

@triptych this all is done now. I hope you are managing to find a way forward in your new daily reality. My thoughts are with you.
@Gert è una miniera d'oro perché ci sono sempre nuovi modi che un LLM può fallire, quindi tantissimo potenziale per nuovi risultati
@cwwilkie @andybechtel interestingly, also an opposing story is being told. I'd still think both sources have always put an effort to be trusted

@mia interesting, another quite respectful media painting an opposing story
