@talia_christine Or maybe they did think it through. ;-)
@beaq @karlauerbach @LadyDragonfly Hah! Bottom line is it gets conversation going. The problem is getting people to talk about it at all instead of remaining in their belief-bubble.
When I have an opportunity, I use the term cis-male to refer to myself in the hope of triggering a reaction, "Duh, what dat mean?"
@goatsarah @AnarchoNinaWrites Hmm, they're completely confident they will win so showing them bad outcomes for the Nazis has no effect but to inspire them.
@AnarchoNinaWrites Yes, here in West Virginia I point this out to the few of us who aren't right-wingers -- these people cold-bloodedly like the idea of suppressing minorities, anti-semitism, ejecting immigrants, etc.
Note that these folks have always been here. I saw the hate in the 1990s. Trump didn't create them, he simply unleashed what was already here. So trying to reason with them is pointless. They've held this position for decades.

@petrillic @LadyDragonfly I'm old. Back in the 1950s and 60s, milk was labeled HOMO MILK. (Homogenized, of course.)
@karlauerbach @LadyDragonfly Yes, your point is well taken. But given where society is evolving from, I go with it because people are at least talking about it instead of hiding gender issues in the closet. It's not like this is a new thing. It's part of being human for the past zillion years. Not talking about it or pretending it doesn't exist doesn't do anyone any good.
@iembot_rlx This appears to be 8 hours out of date.
@bhawthorne @GottaLaff @xvf17 That might happen but not on camera. We'll have to rely on "leaked accounts".

It is refreshing to see a pastor who thinks this way ;
“ The greatest tragedy is how many Americans he now represents—and that he apparently represents those I loved and lived alongside.”

"#Russia and #Iran have finalized an agreement to trade in their local currencies instead of the #US dollar...'Banks and economic actors can now use infrastructures including non-SWIFT interbank systems to deal in local currencies,' Iran’s state media [said]. #Moscow has lately been cozying up to #Tehran, with Iran revealing it will provide Russia with Su-35 fighter jets, Mi-28 attack helicopters and Yak-130 training aircraft"
@black_intellect Not many people know Wheatland, Wyoming. I do. Haha. Long ago I used to go there frequently. Five years ago I visited again and not much had changed.
That girl has the wan smile of a self-satisfied idiot. We'll see what time does to it.
@yurnidiot I must be older than you. That thing was modern new tech compared to what I grew up with. I grew up before color TV, before there were any transistors in a TV set. 😂
A long time ago, people in North America would get wide eyed looks of horror and concern when I told them I'd had malaria - multiple times. (And also typhoid, giardia, and intestinal worms - all at the same time- and I had been sick for three years). The ignorant would even sometimes move away suddenly, as if they weren't quite sure which of those diseases they could or couldn't get from sitting next to me. Sometimes they would ask if the malaria could come back, and I told them that yes, some kinds can go dormant in your liver for years and then pop back out for unknown reasons. I sometimes told them that I had taken an "eradication course" of a medication that was supposed to kill of those dormant forms, and I hoped that it had worked. And yes, if they asked, I told them that I knew people who had died of malaria. I wonder sometimes how these same people who were horrified by the very word "malaria" would react if I met them again. And told them that #Covid is airborne, while malaria is not (unless you count flying mosquito vectors as "airborne"). I wonder their eyes would widen and if the same horrified expression would cross their faces if/when they realised that the illnesses they've probably had multiple times by now is much more contagious than malaria, and could even now be hiding out in their bodies, damaging their organs, and waiting to pop out and kill them unexpectedly in the future. But no, I probably won't meet them again, and I won't tell them, and they won't realise. Until it's too late. #CovidIsNotOver
