I agree- I also had someone move servers on me (but also said at the beginning too as it was a personal thing). Luckily I wasn't in too deep but I was tempted... Have won by not gambling (not putting anything online as a 'easy more-permanent way' as it doesn't really exist unless you burn up energy / like to do up / down stream stuff / multiple copies / interact with Google / conform to American law / E T C. Hehe.

So I good not to build on bad base... and solve the base as still at the end you'll need to have offline backup probably and replying on it is also adding more cost AND time at the end so better maybe not or for example 10 preview videos on PeerTube and then SSH/FTP-style silo from your own other safe place...

The work flow and decent silo is important (i.e. if you can't use YouTube or Amazon AWS or America as you backend then solving this problem as part of solving everyone else's problem)...

Smaller bytes of data is my solution and people work more than bloatwork (for me audio is the magic middle and also saves time up and down stream and backup and managing self-names assets are is super easy). There is a lot of existing video - just enjoy a bit of that but maybe not add to it.

Maybe the people work increase is the best part of having reality literally hit us back (as a result of reality of 'cloud' computing kicking in our rights to privacy and being seen as less and less doable as an import of America politics / rules into every transfer and contract paid or unpaid).

Cloud is more correctly 'remote storage' though cloud sounds a bit ambiguous and bad to me but asking people where there Google Photos are and how it's stored and who is managing it - is always interesting!
"So where are you photos now exactly?" ! !

The idea of permanence is a bit of a fraud (it's all just temporary upkeep that's been a turbo for like 20years max maybe)

A few scenarios I thought of and challenges:
- accepting the false temptation of cloud
- realising who we are 'in bed with' is a problem (America born tech / law / Gov surveillance etc)
- realising how government and big corp / tech, actually work together if not create from their evil!

@Longplay_Games@mastodon.social @MightyOwlbear @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux
Feels like people are learning that.
And also sharing more evidently like you just said - that's big.
Can seem too late but always another onion skin is around this one so we can wrap it or pivot once we have a good way.

That over-working thing is nature + workaholic type stuff (when I detect I'm doing this like cutting too many trees in forest I read up about something I don't know!)

Ok so just another hole is not good (sacrificing yourself for what is again used badly) and excuse of not seeing where others are taking us (like selling companies) is less and less forgotten.

I wish all those doing unpaid hours to really reconsider that... and even doing things unapaid or free to even reconsider that.. as tech doesn't always solve the human thing. (will end that theme for now)

@MightyOwlbear @Longplay_Games@mastodon.social @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux
Hmm yeah I can see how it's tempting to want that for genuine reasons or many not-so-good-intentioned reasons,,,

Especially for example from Technical people (slight tangent)
From in my short experiences and longer talks many mostly want to solve it with more tech not realising ompletely (or forgetting) this is a human thing they are in NOT a technical problem! We had and still have everything even at slower speed or bad interfaced stuff... mostly it's the humans interface and practice (which is part of the joy of computers and machines I suppose, dealing with the dreams of code or the physics of aerodynamics or whatever)
They are just breed that way or most comfortable in the next best things or answering what is 'again' undone, not seeing governments take advantage of everything including tech itself and like the innocent mechanisms of a gun they don't mind people making the nice toys and drone like things to attach to other things. Yay evolution!... doh!
(again) :)

But yeah for one reasons or 100(!) people want to solve it or think xyz will help when it's still the people when you get down to it... the talking, the scary co-worker or stranger-danger, the adrenalin.... all the parts we have to do ourselves since Gov's aint listening much! And the beauty of having them solve all that is now over !
People just interested in taking our money/energy. Nope not them it's just us as the justice for better or worse until intelligence does us apart.

Sorry for the poetic type of writing but I really believe it!

@Longplay_Games@mastodon.social @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux
Yes I agree. I generally try not to want to emulate / copy what doesn't work as a model (so Google / YouTube or whatever that sucks the living daylight from life to produce 24hours of accessible online video in each and every added hour in life!)

I apply a multi-weapon answer which others can use accordingly to this kind of preference ladder:

- use it all less
- use what I already have downloaded in the past (re-use and asking why I have it...)
- using the free way (which is definitely not the fast-food 24.7 all0you-can-eat hamburger model).
- Limiting to megabytes rather than giga (I refuse to watch only 720p of people just talking for 2hrs not moving much and using 2-3GB of space)
- more things I'll write up one day!

Mostly based on reducing consumption / accepting it was all a bit temporary / a bit of a turbo that can't last forever as it's killing energy faster :!
(accepting it was all inflated funny money / datacentres sucking up the villages water supply lol damn- yeah all that stuff!)

I use audio a lot as keep the human parts and yeah invidious if I'm more 'desperate' than my daily thing... as I store mostly offline music, video and want to work on this human things a bit more (see profile for more on that)

@chaospontifex @NewSammyChan
Naturally it seems true we're not into everything else that everyone is into as you mention - people are busy being themselves and no defending others... I guess where this anybody in the middle or even attacking how people decide that's where it gets tricky like a government in between, others groups etc... but mostly government I would say which day one is trying to divide people (I think this is evident) and even kill people to stop many good / peaceful / individual rights / sovereign things. They want conformation.
Anyway my politics aside I think it's this main 3rd party / vaguely anonymous entities (gov, banks, laws, everything we know little of) that makes a big bang from everything we care about or sensitive to.... and of course we're still mastering language or communication itself.

And that's why it's all seemingly enemy looking eyes as that is the construct or framing from gov roots and gov intention (to divide people not unite or make it free or whatever people are happy with, even happiness-based)

Complications and hidden intentions which is why talking seems to solve that and even doing justice ourself somewhat (since even we can't get any answer from those in charge or it's all argumentless UNtransparent and UNfair so might as well start again!)

You're right if I consider I'm not mechanic and care a bit less perhaps for that but really I have knowledge in many things and feel like 'this' is generally the way (to generally be knowing / talking in more things) so while I agree kids rights or any category is not 'my thing' actually it is in a planetary, people, nature and all that kind of thing...

Hope that shows why I rope everything into this slowly without being too direct either... (and of course our life on the line make this all an exclamation mark, but does help see and build from many angles and just needs increments and random exploring / people introducing and connecting it).

We will become better sapiens as you say... incrementally and with our existing interests weaves in for something altogether caring / strong overview in individuals.

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux
Appreciate you saying out loud and hold with you that thought.
On my system it loads everything almost instantly because it's stripped down to the functional basics (rather than added shenanigans).
Really really appreciate you saying

The ultimate question or ultimatum in life....Ask for money or not...?

The rest below I'll work on... pinch of salt for now and ignore grammatical errors... just the question and few points below will help consider the 'game' they got us playing (more like playing to lose)...

We can do things without, maybe not everything... but then heading toward *more things without* is better than asking money because other people ask money.

So genuinely might depend on your belief if we can get to the days before (much less money and yeah nature ware 'inconvenient and harder work' which anyway if we don't do gets us into concrete boxes which isn't great either and nowhere to grow with everything concreted over)

Just asking anything is hard and possibly not sane as eventually all just spirals up crazily... so asking a bit of money (or really those working to share with those not working as there are never enough jobs (i.e. scarcity made by man) and stic to the real economy NATURE / PLANET / PEOPLE / HUMANITY / FOOD / SHELTER without the middle-men in between siphoning / robbing things.

This is the main main thing to choose as it runs through everything else and taints / contaminates it IF you ever speak of it!

It is possible without, only depends how far it gets and the 'next problem' to deal with because often money uses force or ignorance to 'achieve' but we're all looking for peace not war (which is almost why money was invented / used for / still is in a large % or taxes and loans etc)

and yeah depending how you see it (which I see, and is fair enough for you) then one just has to say

@chaospontifex @NewSammyChan
Wow, interesting take on that for me... didn't even think about the money side... so just on that front I've biased already that money itself is a scam, misrepresentation... ok sorry for bad analogy but financial rape so when you mention this and other things to pay for, be cheated out of, increasing, bank saying no money etc etc... then I tend to agree whatever topic we're on... but for abortion ok I'll let it sit for now...
actually not even sure specifically what you mean like is there a law or general rule only one side pays or always the man or what were you thinking or more info please (and not to make to tangential but yeah I don't know so thought good to ask).
Thanks

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux
excellent and about finance via tracking, yes it's the ultimate question or ultimatum (general thing to choose) and yeah depending how you see it (which I see, and is fair enough for you) then one just has to say no to the way of doing things when it is possible without, only man-made stuff in between almost stops it allows excuse. So without preach I'm ok with that (what you said) and just supporting free software / freedom is overall the ideal to support (so not even invidious after a while but GNU or 100's of other free-minded group putting a more sane version of things and reducing the finance even / minimising as that is eventual problem too and needs switching, banks etc). Totally accept what you said and happy to say more
(or answer specific question) as I think we all love freedom but have to bend it back that way a bit and not let those other problem roots grow too strong :)

If people can do the people-work together peer to peer (something closer to real life realtime audio/video/multimedia) then we can come out of the traditional professional 'work' or 'projects' that I believe depend of where the funds comes from (dubious places).
So I'm anti-money, but mostly I'm pro-individuals and healthy groups (just not money leading and dominating the existence of things) and so less the said/unsaid narratives of projects. And just ourselves, thanks!

Mastodon Tactics - How to use Mastodon with lots of peopel and posts to get deeper...

Advice about how to use Mastodon when adding so many great people ?

Feels like if 2/3 people could stick to each other 'until the end' then at least they could crack those hard nuts... but everyone following everyone yes is good but might even prolong actually being intimate about problems and seeing where inter-politics are rather than more heavy on general conversations with many,

I guess I could delete many of the people I follow... and stick to a few?... maybe then move on like a portable chicken coop?

@NewSammyChan
After reading it again today fresher, I see now it was a list of things you were saying in that 1st paragraph so mostly me at fault there for sure...

If I could say as a minor point something about making a list unmistakeably clearer, then I would say literally a list format (with line breaks) or using semi-colon when list starts (;) would be good for such topics.

So again just for more obviousness and also to catch those speed reading or reaction-replies, where the clarity can used like speed bumps in replies to slow it down a bit or make parts visually clearer.

(examples below)

- a condom that has broken,
- a fuckwit doing a “stealth” as it feels better
-forgetting to pull out, rape.

ALL of the above is rape.

or semi-colon to denote a bit more more clearly that after that ---> point here;
a list or explanation follows that with commas for each thing as you had it already.
Semi-colon catches the eye sometimes too like to make reader ask themself "why semi colon there?"

Hope that helps point to people it was a list while reading or when people critique anything.
I feel this ll helps people collect and review points, where a nice paragraph can seem compact and seems short but can be hard to remember or re-read / re-consider points in considering it all).

Really hope that helps because;

- Helps people balance the points and even collect them
- I really like to be ultra clear
- Internet overall I see as a re-filtering type of accumulation and understanding worldwide

Hope that feels constructive.

Creating Crisis Efficiently - Same way you can create technology you can create crisis really well.

The key some STEM peeps don't realise (or more exactly forget in new making of projects) is that ***in whose hands it ends up it's all regulated badly****
and if you build the answer- are you serious to think they will solve it ???????

So "Manufacturing Crisis" is a REAL PROBLEM and you could say now an art perfected by buggers who take from geeks and act like they just can... so you are enabling them too...

GIVING the trolls or tyrannical people any more tools is not needed. Now is time for the people work. Have you been doing ANY of that?

Tech is ok but we have enough...
